Hello April and Hello 'Spring Time',
It is a time when I surround myself with daffodils, tulips and other spring plants and flowers which motivate, inspire and energise me to continue to fulfil my aspirations. I love to hear the early morning sound of the birds chirping, the bright start of the day and the evening becoming lighter by the hour. And importantly, my birthday is in May, so I'm a Spring baby too!
Spring Time is also an opportunity to reset goals that you may have set at the beginning of the year. I am focusing on my morning ritual of meditation, affirmation work, exercise/yoga and journaling. This takes dedication and commitment and to be honest, there are times when I wake up in the morning and I feel that I can't be bothered and tell myself that I will do it tomorrow. After some inner dialogue, I arise and get ready for my daily routine.
I finish my routine with yoga and to end the practice, I give thanks. On the days that are a challenge to get up, I give extra thanks for winning the mental battle and committing to my routine. My morning ritual is my soul-food and it nourishes me for the day ahead. This may resonate with many of you. At these times, acknowledge, accept and make a decision that serves YOU!!!
So, this month is a gentle reminder to push through those challenges and step into your power. Having spent most of 2020 strengthening my emotional well-being, I have started 2021 feeling more optimistic and really proud of my growth. The tilling of the soil and the replanting of the seeds of my authenticity is truly paying off. It is still a work in progress and I am constantly working on my self-care. With the added bonus of continuous love and support, the new road ahead is something I am really excited to travel along and explore. Sometimes I feel like a child again and so enjoy having 'Me Time' and doing things that bring me joy. An example would be listening to music I grew up with and happily singing along. For those who know me, my singing voice is not great (and that's me being nice), especially as when I sing, I sing out, loudly!! I have been told that I am tone deaf and friends/family smile a painful smile when I sing my favourite tunes around them. Hey, we all have our Achilles Heel! I can reassure you, that I have a great speaking voice which I have been told is more acceptable, soothing and powerful. You have got to know your strengths, I guess!
This leads on to my focus over the next few months. This will be about working on my physical health, strengthening my body, along with strengthening my emotional health. I have treated myself to new running gear and have a weekly routine, a running partner that challenges me and I love the progress that I am making. Those are my main goals this year.
Feeling strong or stronger for me is about being able to carry the load and manage it through the journey, so when that curve ball hits you, you are able to stay firm on the ground or be agile enough to get back up, dust off the debris and continue on your journey. This year is a healing year for us all. 🙏🏽
My affirmation card for this month is:
"I Am ... Determined"
"Dedication, self-discipline, hard work, overcoming obstacles, will keep you on track to achieving your goals. Stay focused".
Three current reasons why I am Determined are:
- My vulnerabilities allow me to grow into a better version of myself.
- The excitement I feel within helps me push forward.
- I stand tall in adversity and feel blessed for the roots that keep me grounded.
Currently I am listening to video clips on YouTube from Deepak Chopra, which really reinforce this affirmation. The music track that helps resonate this feeling for me is "Keep on Moving" - Soul II Soul.
Journaling has also been a very useful tip for me and whether it is written down on a post it note or in my journal, I capture my thoughts and feelings as soon as I can. I believe these thoughts are at their purest even if they are merely a few words jotted down, which can be expanded on at a later time.
One of my customer reviews mentioned that a journal to match the affirmation cards would be really useful and I am happy to say that this is already in progress.
Just a little takeaway for you - if you haven't seen it yet, check out 'This Is Us' on Amazon Prime. I cannot tell you how much I have been hooked and I mean seriously HOOKED on this series. Many golden nugget life lessons and so enjoyable to watch!
Enjoy the SpringTime!
Be determined in your journey and keep up your self-care.
Until next month, stay blessed. 💜
